This mural is a perfect example of how street art can be combined with local history. The figures on the mural are gazing at a carefully reproduced 17th-century engraving of Chełmno, symbolizing their journey through life and their shared discovery of the city and its history.
The colorful figures in contrasting colors catch the eye and bring the painting to life. The symbolism of paper boats may refer to the delicacy and fleetingness of moments that are worth celebrating together, as well as to dreams that are worth pursuing, even if they seem as fleeting and impermanent as paper boats on water.
It is works of art like these that make the city more colorful and full of life. If you visit Chełmno, be sure to stop by this mural and admire its beauty and the message it conveys.
It was created by Aliaksandr Blahiy and Julia Lozouskaya from the TAKTAK crew, who came especially from Minsk. As the artist himself says: "I was looking for inspiration in old pictures of the Chełmno panorama. I really like the city. It is small, but it has an incredible concentration of historical monuments in a small area." Chełmno, with its charming nooks and crannies, now has even more to offer. An interesting fact about the mural is that it depicts the artist with his girlfriend sailing on the Vistula River.
