Chełmża

Places
Lake Chełmżyńskie is not only the showpiece of Chełmża, it is also a guarantee of relaxation in the middle of the town. This is encouraged by the beaches, water equipment rentals and the 1000th Anniversary Boulevard stretching along the lake. Walking it by the light of the setting sun is the perfect idea for a warm summer evening. The pier located above the surface of the water is a guarantee of incredible views and the possibility of crossing to the opposite shore of the lake. The Holy Trinity Cathedral Basilica looks proudly  in its waters. It is one of the oldest brick buildings in the Chełmno land and its history dates back to 1251. Over the centuries, the temple hosted many Polish kings, including John III Sobieski, who donated to the church the blanket of the Vizier Kara Mustafa's horse, captured during the relief of Vienna and preserved to this day. A ceramic cup is guarded in the temple vault. It is said that if it is broken, the cathedral will be destroyed. At least that's what the legend says...
