Picturesquely situated on the slope of the Vistula valley, Gruczno attracts lovers of cuisine and local tradition. An old historic mill has been preserved here. The half-timbered building was built in 1888 by the German Herman Pauly. Until 1949 it was powered by water, later its role was taken over by electricity. The mill operated for 110 years, until 1998. Today it is the seat of the Society of Friends of the Lower Vistula. Due to rich local beekeeping traditions, a mini open-air museum of beehives has been created in Gruczno. The 1920's 'Bee House', an example of highly advanced old beekeeping technology, has also been reconstructed. Honey from the Lower Vistula region still captivates with its taste.
Gruczno is a good address for culinary connoisseurs and ordinary gourmets. The August Taste Festival attracts gourmets from all over Poland to this charming place. The vast, hilly area on the banks of the Vistula, where Wrzosowka sheep graze, with a historic mill, wooden homesteads, bridges, old plum and apple trees, creates a natural setting for meetings of producers and lovers of traditional flavours, regional recipes and local products.
