Wielka Nieszawka is reminiscent of the times of the Olender - Protestant settlers from the Netherlands and Friesland. Their first traces in the area point to the early 17th century. Until the World War II there was one of the main centres of life of this community.
In the Olender Ethnographic Park a fragment of the cultural landscape of the Vistula village from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries has been recreated. In the midst of fields, meadows, gardens and orchards stand historic houses and farm buildings, forming typical homesteads, which were moved from the Lower Vistula Valley. These are the most valuable preserved objects of architecture characteristic for the Olender settlers. The Mennonite cemetery, which you will find in the park, is also a reminder of them.
