Obelisk commemorating the site of the meeting of district princes in 1227.
During the meeting of Piast princes in 1227, Prince Leszek Biały of Kraków and Sandomierz was killed in the fields of Marcinkowo Górne. The prince's death had serious consequences for the history of the country. The events that took place in Gąsawa and nearby Marcinkowo Górne dashed hopes and delayed the unification of the fragmented Polish districts by nearly 100 years. In 2008, to commemorate the 780th anniversary of Leszek the White's death, an obelisk commemorating the place where the prince died was rebuilt. The first monument in this place was erected in 1883.
