Bydgoszcz – Symbols of Bydgoszcz

Places

Information

  • Address: ul. Jagiellońska 36, Bydgoszcz
The dominant figure is Casimir the Great, one of Poland's greatest rulers. It was he who granted Bydgoszcz city rights in 1346 and thanks to him a castle was built here – although the castle no longer stands, the memory of the king lives on. Casimir the Great, who "found Poland wooden and left it brick," is depicted against the backdrop of the settlement. The mural also features an archer, the symbol of Bydgoszcz. The painted work reminds us of the great importance of his reign for the development of the city. This mural is not only art, but also a tribute to history.
