When you enter the village of Brzózki, you immediately get the impression that this is a unique place. It can be described as a large-scale open-air art gallery.
Thanks to the passion of Katarzyna and Waldemar Baszak, the village has gained an artistic glow. Katarzyna and her husband Waldemar founded the Brzózki Creative Association, which has been implementing a project of murals inspired by the work of Vincent van Gogh since 2016. With the help of young artists, they convinced the residents to turn their houses into canvases for the master's works. Thanks to this, you can admire Van Gogh's paintings while walking around the village.
The original painting was created in June 1889 during the artist's stay in Saint-Remy for voluntary psychiatric treatment. The master himself wrote in a letter to his sister Wilhelmina: "I now feel compelled to paint the starry sky. It often seems to me that the night is even richer in colors than the day, colored with the most intense purples, blues, and greens. If you look closely, you will see that some stars are lemon-colored, others have shades of pink, green, and blue like forget-me-nots. Without delving into the subject, it is obvious that to paint a starry sky, it is not enough to place white dots on blue black.
