Pałac Ostromecko

Places
"Bydgoszcz's Wilanów" is how Andrzej Szwalbe, the organiser of Bydgoszcz's musical life and long-standing director of the Pomeranian Philharmonic, referred to the Palace and Park Complex in Ostromecko. And this is not an exaggerated statement. The place captivates with its beauty, interesting history, wonderful nature and extraordinary monuments. Amidst the lush greenery, the silhouettes of two palaces emerge. Arriving guests are welcomed by the classicist New Palace, built between 1832 and 1848, whose extensive terraces lead to the picturesque English garden. Apart from truly palace interiors, the Sommerfeld Storehouse is hidden here - an interior styled on the workshop space of Bruno Somerfeld's Bydgoszcz Piano Factory. You can also see a unique collection of instruments from the accordion factory in Bydgoszcz. Situated on the edge of the Vistula escarpment, surrounded by an Italian garden, the baroque Old Palace is a residence in the Warsaw rococo style, built around 1730. Its interiors house the unique Andrzej Szwalbe Collection of  Antique Pianos.  Walking through the park alleys you will discover the remains of the Schönborn-Alvenslben family mausoleum - the last owners of Ostromecko.
