Mill Island, an enclave of greenery in the very heart of the city, is undoubtedly one of the most enchanting places in Bydgoszcz. It is a source of pride for the residents and a favorite spot for walks, relaxation, and entertainment. The island recalls milling traditions and the former history of the Royal Mint. Rising from the swiftly flowing Młynówka River are 19th-century buildings known as the Bydgoszcz Venice. The waters of the Brda River reflect the grand Nova Opera House and Bydgoszcz Cathedral. In the old granaries and mills, you can see exhibitions of the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum. A valuable monument of industrial architecture is the monumental Rother's Mills. Today, they house the Science and Culture Center, where the story of the city by the river unfolds.
