Information

The Marian cult in Byszewo dates back to the 13th century, when Cistercians settled in these lands. The object of worship and the greatest treasure of the church is the famous image of Our Lady Queen of Krajna, famous for its graces , placed in the main altar. Painted on a wooden board by an unknown artist, probably dates back to the 13th century. It depicts Mary with Baby Jesus in her right hand. In her left hand, Mary holds a scepter. Jesus raises his right hand in a gesture of blessing and in his left hand he holds a white rose, offering it to his Mother. According to legend, the painting was fished out of the lake next to the church, which was then called the Holy Lake. Today, a replica of the painting with the image of Our Lady of Byszewo floats on its surface. The temple in Byszew delights with its Rococo interior design, housing many valuable monuments.
