Information

On the picturesque shore of Lake Biskupińskie rise the "Polish Pompeii" - one of the largest and most recognizable archaeological reserves in Europe. You will find traces of settlement from the Stone Age to the Early Middle Ages, including the remains of a defensive settlement from the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age. Reconstructed settlements evoke the spirit of the past. You will meet craftsmen recreating the ancient life of the inhabitants. You will also see plots of archaic plant species and farms with animals similar to the original breeds that lived in these areas centuries ago. A unique event in the reserve is the September Archaeological Festival, when reenactors from various parts of the world recall the customs and everyday life of ancient cultures.
