Places

Information

The Diocesan Museum is a place where art, history and the sacrum meets. Here you will see valuable collections of sculptures, paintings and goldsmiths. These are high-class works of sacred art, from Gothic times to the 19th century, constituting part of the cultural heritage of Pomerania. Here you can also admire "Miracle on the Vistula River", an original painting by Jerzy Kossak from 1930. There is yet another reason why it is worth visiting this place. It is a historic 16th-century tenement house, which is the abode of a museum, in which the old functional and decorative elements of the building have been preserved. Among them, you will see a Gothic washbasin, a hypocaustum - a medieval heating system, a former chimney visible during a ride in a glass elevator, polychromes on the walls and a richly decorated staircase guarded by a Roman legionnaire and the goddess Minerva.
