Information

Located in the heart of Toruń's Old Town, the Old Town Hall is a symbol of the city's former glory, which still delights with its architecture. It is one of the largest and most beautiful buildings of this type in Europe. It is a symbol of the Gothic Old Town Complex, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. For centuries it was the commercial and administrative center of the city. The court and the city council were seated here. Rulers were hosted here - grand masters of the Teutonic Order and kings of Poland. Today, the Old Town Hall is the main area of the District Museum, which attracts lovers of art, history and architecture. Inside you will see, among others: the Gallery of Gothic Art with a collection of unique 14th-century stained glass windows, the Burgesses' Hall with a portrait of Nicolaus Copernicus - probably the most famous image of the astronomer in the world, the Royal Hall with the oldest Post Office of Polish Kings in the country and the Gallery of Polish Paintings from the end of the 18th century to 2010 . with works by artists such as: Jan Matejko, Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, Olga Boznańska, Jacek Malczewski and Zdzisław Beksiński. It is worth climbing to the top of the town hall tower to see what Copernicus' city looks like from above.
