Forest Nature path "Szumny Zdrój"

Places
Did you know that the common yew is a species of coniferous tree that is almost completely extinct in Western Europe, but has been under protection in Poland since 1423? Did you know that in order to recognize a tree as a natural monument, its circumference should be greater than the estimated minimum values for a given species? Did you know that dead wood left in the forest is a deliberate act of foresters, and the decay of a dead tree can take up to 100 years? These are just some of the curiosities that await you on the "Szumny Zdrój" forest nature path. Its 2.5 km route leads through the charming areas of the Górznieńsko-Lidzbarski Landscape Park. The beginning is a forest arboretum. This is a special type of botanical garden where you can learn about native species of trees and shrubs. When following the marked path, pay attention to educational boards. They hide many forest curiosities. Thanks to them, you will learn, among others: what the daily work of foresters looks like. Next, the route will take you to the "Szumny Zdrój" nature reserve, located on the shore of Lake Młyńskie. Be careful, beavers like this place. Traces of their feeding, the so-called beaver bites can be seen along the shoreline of the lake. As you continue through the picturesque ravine, you will see the spring alder forest. On its edge there is wild garlic, rare in this area. It is a plant that emits a characteristic scent during flowering (late April and May).
