What connection does Kaszczorek have with Nicolaus Copernicus? Contrary to appearances, quite a significant one, because it was there that the family of the future astronomer, including Nicolaus's father from 1464, owned a vineyard. Kaszczorek is now part of Toruń, but it was first mentioned in sources as early as 1242. At that time, it was part of the estates of the bishops of Włocławek. During the Middle Ages, Beghards and Dominicans periodically stayed here. An important monument from that period, preserved to this day, although rebuilt, is the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, dating from the 14th century. Valuable elements of its furnishings include a Gothic statue of St. Adalbert and a holy water font dating from the 15th/16th century. In 1509, the village became the property of the Toruń City Council. Tourists visiting Kaszczork should also visit the Fishing and Farming Homestead, which is a branch of the Maria Znamierowska-Prüfferowa Ethnographic Museum in Toruń.
